The industrial and technological holding Czechoslovak Group (CSG), owned by Czech entrepreneur Michal Strnad, has signed an acquisition agreement to purchase Hydraulics s.r.o., a leading Czech manufacturer in the field of hydraulics. The company specializes in linear hydraulic motors – hydraulic cylinders, units, and systems, focusing on both production and service activities.
With this acquisition, CSG continues its vertical integration and strengthens its self-sufficiency in the field of land systems production. The transaction value remains undisclosed. The completion of the acquisition is subject to approval by the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS). Once finalized, Hydraulics will become part of the CSG Defence division.
Hydraulics has long been a trusted partner of CSG’s land systems manufacturers. It supplies key components for systems such as rocket launchers and self-propelled howitzers, while also maintaining a strong presence in the civil market, producing and delivering hydraulic cylinders, systems, and hoses for the engineering and energy sectors.
The acquisition aligns with CSG’s strategy to strengthen vertical integration of production and expand its domestic industrial base in the defense sector. CSG aims to double Hydraulics’ business performance in the coming years, primarily through investments in manufacturing expansion and export development.
“Hydraulics is an important partner for us, possessing long-standing expertise and high manufacturing quality. By integrating the company into CSG, we will enhance our self-sufficiency in key components for land systems. Our goal is to make Hydraulics an even stronger player – both domestically and internationally,” said Vladimír Stulančák, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the CSG Land Systems subdivision.
The owners of Hydraulics, who have built the company since the 1990s, decided to sell it due to a generational transition and the need to find a strong partner for further growth. “After nearly thirty-five years of building a successful Czech company, we were looking for a partner capable of continuing our work and ensuring Hydraulics’ long-term development,” said Libor Kráčalík, Managing Director of Hydraulics.
Daneš Janík, the company’s second Managing Director, added: “We see CSG as a strong and forward-looking investor who will open up new opportunities for our business both in the domestic and international markets.”
Following the acquisition of ZVI Vsetín, this is the second announced CSG transaction in the Czech Republic in 2025. Both deals confirm that the group actively seeks out promising Czech companies that can strategically complement its portfolio.
